SamoŽns lies at the bottom of a wide glacial valley, through which flows the
River Giffre, scattered over forested slopes, has a chapel surmounted by a graceful onion shaped steeple. In spite of its considerable expansion,
SamoŽns has retained a wealth of traditional stone houses built by its famous stonemasons.
This tourist centre of the Haut Faucigny is the ideal starting point of untaxing hikes and splendid mountain excursions.
Summer activities include mountaineering, canoeing and rafting on the Giffre, swimming, tennis as well as paragliding and hang-gliding which are very poplar.
In winter, the resort is liked by gondola and lifts to the ski area of the Grand Massif.
